Why Fall Is a Good Time to Repaint Indoors
As the weather cools off along the Georgia coast, more of the day moves indoors, and the rooms you spend that time in start to get a closer look. Fall is also the stretch before the holidays, when many families want the house looking its best for guests. Painting before the busy season means the work is finished, the furniture is back in place and the house is ready for company, instead of trying to squeeze a repaint in between holiday plans.
Which Rooms Make the Biggest Difference
We paint walls, ceilings, bedrooms, kitchens, bathrooms, accent walls, offices and full interiors. If you are not sure where to start, a few places tend to pay off quickly when guests are coming over.
Entryways, Living Rooms and Dining Rooms
These are the rooms people see first and spend the most time in together. Fresh walls, with the ceiling and trim done to match, make a room read as cared for even before anything else changes.
Accent Walls and Ceilings
New colors help give a room a new look on life. A single accent wall or a full accent ceiling is a smaller project than a whole-room repaint, and it can change how a room feels.
Kitchens and Bathrooms
Kitchens and bathrooms are busy rooms that get wiped down often, so the sheen you pick matters. Eggshell is a soft sheen that is easy to wipe clean, and satin is a durable choice for high-traffic walls. If the kitchen cabinets are what look tired, our cabinet painting and refinishing can give them a clean, updated finish without a full replacement.
What Goes Into an Interior Paint Job
A good-looking finish comes from what happens before the color goes on. Here is how we work through a room.
Prep and Protection
Floors, trim and fixtures are masked and covered before anything is opened, and furniture and flooring stay protected for the entire job. Surfaces are then patched and sanded smooth. If a wall has holes, dents or cracks, our drywall and surface prep work takes care of them first, because paint shows every flaw underneath it.
Primer and Two Finish Coats
Where the surface calls for it, primer goes down first so the color coat bonds and holds. Then come two full finish coats, rolled and cut in by hand, for even coverage that holds up over time.
Trim, Doors and Ceilings
Trim and woodwork take more handwork than open walls, so baseboards, crown molding, window frames and doors are sanded, caulked where needed and painted by hand for clean lines. If you are repainting the walls, it is a natural time to refresh the details too. Take a look at our doors, trim and woodwork page for what that includes.
Picking a Sheen
We can work with every sheen, from flat to semi-gloss. Flat or matte gives walls and ceilings a low-glare look. Eggshell has a soft sheen and wipes clean easily. Satin suits trim, doors and high-traffic walls, and semi-gloss is a good fit for railings and trim. Choosing the right sheen for each surface is part of getting a finish that looks right and lasts.
Getting Ahead of the Holiday Rush
We are open Monday through Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm, and we accept credit cards as well as other merchant services. Because the weeks before the holidays tend to fill up, it helps to reach out early. Once the work is done, we walk the finished room with you before calling the job complete.
